The artist Iliana Varbanova, PSC., is born on July 14th 1957 in the city of Rousse, Bulgaria. From 1972 to 1977 she has studied graphics and painting in the School of Fine Arts, where she was supervised by one of the biggest names in Bulgarian art, Master Kiril Stanchev.

In her independent work, Iliana develops her unique style - in it, she skillfully combines the techniques of academic painting, the solid shape, and the freehand stroke. The exquisite play of intensity / softness of the colours evokes the emotional effect of her paintings...

Since 2004, Iliana lives in Canada with her husband and two children. In 2005, she began working on the paitings for her new collection, created in Toronto.


Iliana is a member of The Portrait Society of Canada, Society of York Region Artists and CARFAC Ontario.
